Nach der WM ist vor der WM - Philip Waechter zeichnet für TERRE DES HOMMES auf der Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester

The FIFA World Cup™ and the Olympic Games are joyful and prestigious sport competitions, beloved by millions of children and adults. Mega Sporting Events provide global business opportunities and have multifold effects on host cities, countries and their population – both positives and negatives.
The power of sport to change young people’s lives whatever their background is great ... and we love football. But thousands of children were displaced during Brazil’s World Cup™ 2014  preparations. There were evictions in South Africa before the World Cup™ 2010. The FIFA was criticised for the profits it made in 2014, estimated to eventually be nearly two billion Euros, especially as the organisation does not pay tax!!!!  But also did deliver a number of long-term charity projects, which will invested for the next years in Brazil.

TERRE DES HOMMES is a child rights organisation active in 68 countries. It runs a campaign, www.childrenwin.org, on the positive and negative effects on children of major sporting events such as the World Cup and Olympic Games. TERRE DES HOMMES asks the FIFA, the International Olympic Committee and host governments to take the interests of all children into consideration when organizing and realizing Mega Sporting Events. The long-term goal is to include respective criteria into the bidding process and contracts with countries or cities hosting future events.

The Soccerex Global Convention is the football industry’s leading business event which attracts over 4,500 of football’s most senior decision makers for five days of networking, learning and business. This year the Soccerex Global Convention is held in Manchester and will feature a new, interactive zone within the exhibition hall which will showcase best practice in the use of football as a tool for social development around the world. The zone will be delivered in partnership with TERRE DES HOMMES.

Philip Waechter will be there, to make live-illustrations (portraits as he did for TSCHUTTI HEFTLI) to support TERRE DES HOMMES, to win attention for the CHILDREN WIN project. For Changing the game of mega Sporting events!
